Description:

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for reviewing, designing, and implementing safety plans at Immunome. This role will support chemical and biological R&D labs, requiring expertise with biological safety levels and hazardous chemicals. This position constructs and implements safety procedures to support all aspects of the business and trains all personnel on these procedures. They will manage lab safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, ensuring proper documentation is maintained and accessible. This role is a key resource for all Immunome personnel, supporting and connecting end users with proper safety plans and solutions. The Environmental Health and Safety, Manager will report to the Associate Director of Labs and Facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of EHS programs, including Biosafety, Chemical Safety, Hazard Communication, Emergency Preparedness, and Additional OSHA-specific safety programs as needed.
  • Establishment and maintenance of EHS permits and licenses in compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.
  • Development of SDS and banding classifications for novel compounds.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analyses and Risk Assessments.
  • Work with laboratory staff to develop a culture of safety and support, reflecting this culture in all written policies, procedures, instructions, and manuals.
  • Coordinate and facilitate Safety Committees and regular Safety Committee Meetings.
  • Prepare and deliver training to fulfill regulatory requirements and ensure client employees are fully aware of the safety program.
  • Coordinate specialized training, such as RCRA, DOT, IATA, OSHA HAZWOPER, Wastewater Operator, CPR, First Aid, and AED.
  • Maintain complete documentation of all aspects of the EHS program.

 

Skills/Eligibility:

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Environmental Science, Toxicology, Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology).
  • A minimum of 6 years of EHS-related work experience in a laboratory setting. Biotechnology, pharmaceutical research, academic science, or medical technology science preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist preferred/Industrial Hygiene courses relevant to laboratory settings.
  • Operational knowledge of laboratory safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience designing and implementing safety plans.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • High level of professional judgment.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, DEP, EPA, RCRA, DOT, DPH, MWRA, NIH, NFPA, DEA, and CDC regulations as they pertain to life science, biotechnology is preferred.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER Operations Level or above.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
