Help bring innovative food access solutions to communities in need! Your work will directly impact families by improving and expanding food programs. Support systems-change work addressing the root causes of food insecurity among families. Focus on statewide implementation and outreach for federal nutrition programs such as SNAP and Summer EBT.
Location: 98104, Seattle
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
United Way of King County’s vision is to build a community where people have homes, students graduate, and families are financially stable. As part of our work to end poverty, we are committed to ensuring that all children have access to healthy food in the places where they live, learn, and play.
In this role, you’ll develop and implement innovative outreach strategies to connect communities to federal nutrition programs such as SNAP and Summer EBT. You’ll conduct a data analysis of statewide hunger metrics, identifying demographic and geographic trends of food insecurity. Design and implement outreach strategies to increase use of (and access to) federal nutrition programs. Additionally, support efforts to enhance equitable food access in King County’s emergency food system by providing administrative support to the Food Justice Collaborative, a coalition of community-based food security organizations.
This role is perfect for someone looking to gain experience in food justice, policy innovation, and nonprofit leadership. You’ll work alongside experts in food security, build connections with local and state organizations, and develop skills that will set you up for a career in social impact!
